From college to corporate, and now as a consultant, Mindy Becker’s work has always involved precision and collaboration.
Even before graduating from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies, along with an emphasis in Business and a minor in Information Systems, Mindy was building databases for on-campus organizations and enhancing websites for Missouri state offices in Jefferson City, the capitol.
After teaching English to junior high and high school students for a year in Japan, she returned to Missouri and later signed on as a national bank’s credit analyst where she mastered the financial statements and tax returns of loan-seeking customers. If those documents did not mesh with her analysis of cash flow, revenue projections and the bank’s lending standards, then those loans were not funded. During this time, she earned an MBA in Business Administration from nearby Columbia College.
With command of the numbers and a move to a regional bank, she focused less on reporting and more on her passion for discovering the sources of such data. By knowing what information was needed and the importance of proper documentation, she automated reporting and processes to support auditing and compliance in Kansas-served markets. Increasingly, she worked on data capture, preservation, compliance, best practices and alignment with the bank’s overall goals/objectives and business line usage scenarios.
More recently and working as a consultant, Mindy’s passion for data precision has benefitted life insurance and healthcare insurance providers. Starting with requirement gathering, analysis, design, and testing — and using sophisticated analytical tools and applications — her practice areas include:
- Information integration management
- Data process and modeling
- Managing data quality, privacy, and governance
- Business intelligence and analytics
With a broad skill base, certifications, curiosity and tenacity, Mindy has implemented data management solutions, driving out business requirements and ensuring that those solutions meet clients’ business needs. Her teams have used applications like WhereScape, Data Vault and Snowflake to move data from premises to cloud storage. She has also implemented Data Governance programs using Informatica programs, Test Data Manager, Enterprise Data Catalog, Analyst, and Axon.
A cancer survivor of 10+ years and active in her community, Mindy has been an event organizer, participant, and committee member for the American Cancer Society, where she and her twin sister Cindy have raised more than $20,000 for the ACS’s Hope Lodge in Kansas City as Shave to Save event participants. Earlier, Mindy served as a selection board member for the Stephens College Trustee’s Award.
Focused on family, Mindy is mom to her young son, Edgar, and quite conveniently, lives next door to twin sister Cindy Vogel, also a Right Triangle consultant.
