An avid entrepreneur, cyclist, and published author, David Teplow knows a thing or two about going the distance.
Continuing his career advocacy of helping companies select and implement optimal technologies for managing their data, he joins Right Triangle Consulting and reconnects with founder Andy Flower to expand the RTC mission of “getting their clients the right information to the right consumer at the right time.”
After managing information systems in the financial services industry — and being one of the first customers of what became Oracle — David founded his first company, Database Technologies (DBT), in 1986. As the first East Coast consulting company to specialize in Oracle, DBT solved the needs of clients like Comcast and Bank of America for database design, implementation, performance and training.
An innovator in the field of database and data warehouse architecture, DBT grew to more than 100 employees. Recognized for its capabilities, its consultants and its culture, the company gained a strong reputation and was acquired by a larger professional services provider in 1998.
Prior to that successful exit, David grew user awareness of Oracle’s latest features and competitive advantages as a founding member and, for seven years, as president of the Northeast Oracle Users Group. He later served as director of education for the Independent Oracle Users Group. It was on the IOUG board that David and Andy Flower developed a close friendship. Seeing a need to grow his own skills beyond technical expertise, David completed the Babson College Entrepreneurial Management Program and Birthing of Giants, an entrepreneurial leadership program sponsored by the MIT Enterprise Forum.
David followed up DBT by creating Integra Technology Consulting, which he operated from 2000 to 2019. Originally an Oracle systems integrator, Integra shifted to another up-and-coming field — Big Data analytics and cloud computing — with a focus on some of Amazon Web Services’ offerings. Like DBT, Integra also gained high recognition, this time from the Boston Business Journal as one of Massachusetts’ fastest growing privately-owned companies.
Just prior to joining Right Triangle, David leveraged his technology expertise by working for Snowflake, where he and the team he hired and managed helped clients modernize their database and business intelligence environments using Snowflake’s Data Cloud. Having served as Northeast Practice Director for Snowflake’s Professional Services team, David is an expert in Snowflake implementation, migration and optimization.
Aside from his professional endeavors, David’s passion is cycling, where he’s a 23-year participant in the Pan-Mass Challenge, a fundraiser for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. David rides the near 200-mile distance from western Massachusetts to Cape Cod in memory of his sister Debbie and as captain of Deb’s Team, which has raised nearly $2M for cancer research and treatments at DFCI.
A lifelong resident of New England, David earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. With technical expertise and the experience of a successful business owner, he relishes the opportunity to grow RTC’s client relationships and its partnership with Snowflake.
